Soil pollution: Dumping of wastes in many areas is a main cause of Soil Pollution. Also, when soil in & near production areas becomes dirty due to disposal of waste material in soil, such land cannot be used for irrigation purpose & agricultural operations.
Soil pollution is generally due to chemicals in herbicides weed killers & pesticide poisons which kill insects &
other invertebrate pest. Litter is waste material dumped in public Places such as parks, picnic areas, streets, at
bus stops & near shops.
Soil pollution is defined as the build-up in soils of chemicals, salts, persistent toxic compounds, radioactive materials, or disease causing agents that have adverse effects on plant growth & animal health.
